Parish Giving
Parish Giving and Gift Aid
The weekly collection is important in helping our parish remain financially stable. Your generosity supports the upkeep of our church buildings and halls, heating and lighting, ongoing repairs, cleaning, vestments, liturgical supplies (hosts, wine, candles, etc.), insurance, council tax, staffing costs, and many other needs that arise throughout the year.
At present, our parish finances are stretched, and we are only just breaking even. Every contribution—large or small—helps us sustain the mission and life of our parish community.
You can give to support the Parish in various ways:
- Cash donations placed in the collection basket during Mass
- Standing Order, allowing you to give regularly without needing to carry cash
(Most people now set this up online using the parish bank details.)
The parish bank details are:
Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland
Account no: 00245838
Sort code: 83-27-05
Account name: Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh - Church of Our Lady and St Joseph
(NB - This is the bank - Contactless giving via the card machine in the church entrance (which will soon be available in our Parish).
- QR code available at the bottom of this page and on our weekly newsletters (which will soon be available in our Parish).
- The archdiocese system which allows you to make one-off payments directly to the parish, which also gives the opportunity to Gift Aid the donation. All you need is your credit/debit card. Click on the link below to make a donation.

If you are a UK taxpayer, all these methods can be Gift Aided—we simply need your completed Gift Aid Declaration. And this will earn the parish an extra 25% on your donation at no cost to you. Please email me at parishpriest@galacatholic.org and I’ll send you the form.
What Is Required?
To allow the parish to reclaim this additional income:
- You must pay UK income tax at least equal to the Gift Aid claimed on your donations.
- You must complete a Gift Aid Declaration.
- Your donations must be identifiable as yours (e.g. standing order, cheque, online giving).
Legacies and Bequests
Have you considered leaving a gift to the Church—or specifically to our parish—in your Will?
A legacy is a meaningful and lasting way to support the Church’s ministry and ensure that future generations can benefit from the life of our parish community.
If you are updating your Will, or planning to do so, please prayerfully consider including a gift to the Church or our parish.
